卡朋特樂(lè )隊由著(zhù)名的歌星卡倫·卡朋特與她哥哥理查德·卡朋特組成。
卡倫·卡朋特1950年生于美國康耐狄格州，從小在哥哥的影響下學(xué)習樂(lè )器，成了一名鼓手，大她三歲的哥哥理查德是個(gè)非常有才華的青年，擔任鋼琴伴奏和制作人，并創(chuàng )作了大量歌曲。后來(lái)在著(zhù)名經(jīng)紀人德紐文的幫助下，進(jìn)入了美國流行樂(lè )壇。1970年一曲《靠近你》(CloseToYou)榮登排行榜首，這使卡朋特樂(lè )隊一炮走紅，70年代中他們不斷有佳作聞世，成為無(wú)數美國青年的偶像，尼克松總統稱(chēng)卡朋特兄妹是最出色的美國青年。
令人婉惜的是卡倫·卡朋特年僅32歲便過(guò)早地離去。她死于神經(jīng)性厭食癥。這是由于她為了保持身材的苗條，長(cháng)期服用輕瀉劑，與長(cháng)期節食的嚴重后果。1983年2月4日她死于深?lèi)?ài)她的父母懷中�？▊悺たㄅ筇厣ひ魞�(yōu)美，演唱親切自然，略帶傷感，加之他們運用了多軌錄音技術(shù)，因此他們的唱片無(wú)論在藝術(shù)上或技術(shù)上都非常成功，是當代流行音樂(lè )的精品。
